THE MORT & CO KING OF THE MOUNTAIN HORSE RACE IS A 1200 METRE RACE RUN UNDER SET WEIGHT WITH PENALTIES

The Toowoomba Turf Club, in collaboration with Racing Queensland, QTIS, and our esteemed partners, firmly believes in the immense potential of this race. In 2025, the Mort & Co King of the Mountain Horse Race excitingly opens up to include national horses, trainers and jockeys! We will witness some of Australia’s best horse racing combinations right here, at the Toowoomba Turf Club!
This prestigious event promises to elevate Toowoomba’s reputation on the national racing stage, attracting top talent and a wider audience. With significant prize money on offer, the competition will be fierce, and the atmosphere electric. We look forward to welcoming racegoers and participants from across the country to be part of the 2025 instalment of the Mort & Co King of the Mountain.
HOW THE MORT & CO KING OF THE MOUNTAIN WORKS
Inspired by the renowned "The Everest," which holds the title of the richest race on turf, this race promises excitement, prestige, and big rewards.
In the Mort & Co King of the Mountain Race, there will be a total of 12 slots available for purchase, each priced at $40,000. Slot holders have the unique opportunity to decide whether they want to enter their own horse in their allocated slot or engage in negotiations with other horse owners to secure a runner for their slot.
Ten (10) Slots are locked in on three (3) year contracts and the final two (2) race slots is auctioned off annually at our Launch Event meaning that each year there is a chance to be involved in the race by the winning bidder.
Once the slot and horse pairing are finalised, the involved parties come together to determine a prize money split that suits their agreement. This allows for flexibility and customization, ensuring fair and beneficial arrangements for all involved.
